In episode four of our series, Unmasking Isla Vista: Local Business & Essential Workers, KCSB’s Alexandra Goldberg, and the Daily Nexus’ Katherine Swartz assess the pandemic’s toll on businesses here in Isla Vista, highlighting the experiences of owners and essential workers alike.

The two speak with the Board President of the Isla Vista Food Cooperative, Lisa Oglesby, regarding the pandemic’s unique challenges for the community staple. Meg Wilson, a third-year global studies major at UC Santa Barbara and employee at Woodstock’s Pizza, offers a personal account from an essential worker’s perspective. Additionally, we speak to Daniel Dunietz, Buddha Bowls owner and operator, to discuss the changing business flow throughout this past year and a half.
